Success stories

Being a large team, there is enormous opportunity to develop and grow within our area of the business. Upon completion of the graduate program, many of our graduates move in the following types of roles:

  • Business Analyst
  • Project Officer
  • Change Analyst
  • Technical Business Analyst
  • Developer/Programmer
  • Network Engineer
  • Business Solutions Analyst
  • Infrastructure Analyst
  • Service Delivery Analyst
  • Security Analyst
  • UXD Designer

Take a look at this recent example of a graduate who has gone on to achieve great things.

Success story: Justin Bradley

After starting with Commonwealth Bank’s Enterprise Services team as a graduate, Justin now works as a Systems Analyst Developer. His team looks after several IT applications that are used across the group.

On a day-to-day basis, Justin is responsible for meeting with bank customers, managing several IT systems, investigating any problems which arise, and implementing solutions to fix them.

He says that to succeed in his role, it’s important to have an enquiring approach - and always strive to learn more. He also says that teamwork is crucial, as is the ability to translate technical language into non-technical language for customers.

His greatest achievement while at the Bank has been developing an upgrade for one of the Bank’s customer’s system - on time and under budget - and which exceeded the customer’s expectations.

He says: “there’s a lot that goes into running the Group, and the Enterprise Services Graduate Program is a great way to experience this. Being yourself is one of the key factors to the successes I’ve had, as has being ready to ask questions when I need to.”

A day in the life

The Enterprise Services graduate program lasts for 18 months and is a full-time role. You rotate after nine months, so you can learn as much as possible.

When you first join, you will undertake an Enterprise Services Induction and Onboarding Program - which gives you the opportunity to meet other members of your unit, and understand our culture, strategy and key projects.

Along the way, you will receive a dedicated ‘buddy’ a previous graduate - who can provide support and advice. You will also be allocated a mentor, who will help you with your career.

To ensure you grow, you will receive help developing performance and development plans, and access to structured development courses over the 18 months. To help you transition from Graduate to a non-Graduate role after 18 months you are partnered with a Career Coach and attend career focussed workshops to help you identify your strengths.

When you become part of the Enterprise Services team, you will have countless opportunities to expand your knowledge, skills and abilities.

On a day-to-day basis, some of the tasks you may be responsible for include:

  • Helping design, develop set up, enhance or support technology systems.
  • Investigating current systems, and determining how they could be improved.
  • Project-based work, including scoping, planning, implementing and reporting.
