About the Program

The graduate program is a professional development program designed to give you the knowledge, skills and experience you need to move into a role with Commonwealth Financial Planning.

The program involves you rotating through(and building a sound knowledge of financial advising) a number of roles within the bank such as:

  • Financial planning
  • Servicing planner
  • Paraplanning
  • Retail banking
  • Head office and various support functions

The objective of the program is whilst completing each rotation you will develop a thorough understanding of all aspects of Commonwealth Financial Planning, and the key business partnerships within the wider CBA group.

During the program you will be provided with support from a buddy, mentors, peer support groups, placement managers, as well as structured learning and on-the-job training.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for talented and enthusiastic candidates to join the Commonwealth Financial Planning graduate program who:

  • May have completed a university degree in the last 24 months, or be in your final year of an undergraduate degree
  • May already have a DFS (Diploma in Financial Services in Financial Planning 1-4) or equivalent study
  • Are keen to work in financial planning and deliver excellent client service and quality financial advice to customers of CBA
  • Want to work in a busy, corporate, relationship focussed and client driven environment, and strong interpersonal skills with a high level of determination and enthusiasm to succeed
  • Must be a citizen or permanent resident of Australia at the time of application


Where are the available positions?

We are currently looking to run graduate programs throughout Australia, commencing early February 2013.

About the Commonwealth Financial Planning roles

  • Financial Planners/Risk Specialists provide advice on the most appropriate investment, superannuation and insurance strategies to grow and protect the wealth of CBA customers.
  • Servicing Planners focus on building relationships and satisfying the needs of existing customers - from responding to queries and regular meetings to assess customer’s needs and objectives. Servicing Planners work alongside experienced Senior Financial Planners to help manage and service the existing customer base.
  • Paraplanners are responsible for creating and reviewing financial strategies (Statement of Advice) that meet the needs and objectives of a diverse range of CBA customers.
