A healthy approach

We offer our people a range of programs to help them stay healthy.

Health checks

The Commonwealth Bank (the Group) offers all permanent employees access to a free 20-minute health check. This confidential health assessment is designed to identify any areas that may present future health risks.

Everyone who has a health check receives relevant information and strategies to help reduce any risks. Participants benefit by receiving valuable information that can help them improve their health and vitality.

Influenza vaccination program

As a part of the Group’s commitment to the health and wellbeing of our people, we offer free influenza vaccinations to our people. This annual program is voluntary and is managed by a third-party provider. Vaccinations are conducted in convenient locations across the country, including branches and call centres.

Health and wellbeing workshops

We offer a range of workshops aimed at improving health and wellbeing. Workshops cover areas such as stress management, exercise and fitness, nutrition, mental health and parenting.

Health and wellbeing intranet

The Group’s HR Intranet site contains Employee Assistance Program, stories from employees, staff discounts on health products and services, and wellbeing fact sheets.

Depression in the Workplace program

Mental health, particularly depression, is an area of focus in the Group’s diversity and wellbeing programs. We have entered into a partnership with beyondblue: the national depression initiative to deliver the beyondblue National Workplace Program to our people. This program consists of workshops specifically designed for the workplace, as well as supporting information.

Health insurance

CBHS is a not-for-profit health fund that has been providing health cover for employees of the Group and their families since 1951.
