Life balance and flexible work options

Life balance

The Commonwealth Bank’s vision can only be achieved if our people feel that our organisation values their contribution and respects other responsibilities and roles in their lives. We are committed to providing an environment where our people feel engaged, passionate and valued.

Balancing work and home life can sometimes be a challenge. All of us strive to find the right balance between our careers and personal life. We believe that good health, happiness and a sense of achievement are essential for managing work and life responsibilities effectively.

Helping our people realise their full potential involves giving them a sense of wellbeing and offering support when they need it. It’s all about feeling comfortable and secure. Through our employee financial literacy programs, our people are assisted in making the most of their money for a better financial future.

We also encourage flexibility and diversity in the workplace through practices that recognise and respond to our people’s needs at different stages of their lives.

Whether it is a permanent or one-time arrangement, options exist to help our people during a time of need.

Our LifeBalance program seeks to help our people make health a priority and keep a balanced perspective on what is important to them.

Flexible work options

The Commonwealth Bank offers a range of flexible options including part-time, job sharing and working from home opportunities. Many of our people also take advantage of flexible start and finish times and the flexibility of working at different locations. Managers and employees are provided with clear and easy-to-use guidelines, assisting them with their flexible work choices.

Working part-time

Part-time working arrangements provide flexibility to work fewer hours than a full-time job requires. Working part-time means people receive pro rata full-time pay and conditions, such as annual leave entitlements.

Job sharing

Job sharing enables two team members to voluntarily occupy one position in the Commonwealth Bank. Generally, the duties and responsibilities are shared, but there is no standard way of dividing the working week.

Working from home

Working from home is a flexible arrangement agreed between the employee and their manager to work from home rather than the usual workplace.
