  • When applying for a role it’s essential to submit a resume.
  • Be clear and succinct in your application.
  • It is a good idea to include a cover letter with your resume. The cover letter should let the recipient know why you are sending your resume and for what specific position.
  • Provide complete employment histories without unexplained gaps.
  • Research the areas you are interested to learn as much as you can.
  • Familiarise yourself with the job description.
  • Prepare questions for an interview.

What happens once you have applied?

  • Check your email! Once you've applied online for a job, remember to check your email regularly as this will be our primary means of communicating with you.
  • Telephone interview. If selected for a phone interview, you'll have a discussion with a consultant about your work history, tertiary qualifications, skills, extra-curricular activities and your motivation for joining the Bank.
    TIPS: Be sure to:
    • Relax and listen carefully to the questions asked. Feel free to ask for a question to be repeated.
    • Read up on the Bank and have an understanding of what's involved in the role.
    • Switch off your mobile phone and minimise other potential sources of interruption when you're being interviewed.
  • Face-to-face interview. If you're short-listed as a candidate, your final interview will be behavior-based and allow us to explore your personal attributes, competencies and experiences and ultimately your suitability to join the program. Final interviews typically take between 30 minutes and an hour.
TIPS: In this interview, be sure to:
    • Do your research. Why do you want this opportunity?
    • Be prepared.
    • Arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled time.
    • Wear business attire and present yourself professionally.
    • Feel free to ask for clarification if you don't understand a question.
  • Reference check. At this stage we may talk to your referees and conduct a background check. You should also be aware that offers of employment may be subject to the satisfactory completion of appropriate criminal history, pre-employment medical and background checks.
  • Await an offer! If you're successful, you'll receive the good news from us over the phone followed by a written offer in the mail.
