We came on board as a major sponsor of the Commonwealth Bank Series in 2006 and with every exhilarating summer of cricket we’re proud to rally behind our Australian team as they battle it out on the pitch.
The 2010/11 season ended on a high with the Australian men’s One Day International team triumphant over their English rivals with a 6-1 win in the Commonwealth Bank Series.
The 2011/12 season will be another massive summer of cricket and we will be watching with anticipation and cheering for our team as they take on India and Sri Lanka in February and March.
From 2007/08 – 2010/11, we have helped raise money for cancer research during the Commonwealth Bank Series through our ‘Hitting Cancer for Six’ campaign. For every six hit during each series – from Australia or our opponent – we have donated $1,000 to cancer research.
Funds raised are shared between our partners – the Breast Cancer Institute of Australia and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. In the past four years we’ve donated $129,000 to each organisation – that’s equivalent to 258 sixes!
As our ambassador, Mike meets with Commonwealth Bank customers and staff at various events, and autographs Commonwealth Bank Series memorabilia which community charity groups use for fundraising.
‘Mr Cricket’ – as he’s known in cricketing circles – has cemented himself as one of Australian cricket’s most valuable and popular players.
Patient by nature, Mike waited a decade before turning into an overnight star (he first represented Australia at age 18) but since then he has made a habit of breaking records and becoming the fastest player to hit 1000 test runs in just 166 days.
Mike lives in Perth, Western Australia, is married to Amy and has three young children, Jasmin, William and Molly.

In 2010, we welcomed Ellyse Perry to our cricket family. Ellyse made her international debut for the Australian women’s cricket team, the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars, in 2007 and became the youngest ever player to represent Australia in cricket. Beyond her role as the Commonwealth Bank Southern Stars ‘Young Gun’, Ellyse also represents Australia as a member of the Australian women’s football team, the Matildas. This means that Ellyse juggles her time between hitting sixes, taking wickets and scoring goals, while also studying at university. We’re proud to have Ellyse on board and look forward to another smashing summer of women’s cricket in 2011/12. |

We have been proudly supporting the Australian of the Year Awards for 30 years.
