Every weekend in summer the masses gather on green ovals and dry backyards to get out there and have a go at hitting the perfect six.
Local cricket matches are a meeting place for communities across the country. They're also a vital first step for talented young cricketers who may one day go on to represent their state or country.
That's why the Commonwealth Bank is dedicated to supporting the growth of local cricket.
We sponsor the Australian Country Cricket Championships and the national Indigenous cricket competition, the Imparja Cup. Based in Alice Springs, the Imparja Cup is a flagship for Indigenous cricket across the country. We're proud to be the cup's Principal Partner.
We’re proud to support local cricket clubs through our Grants for Grassroots Cricket program. The grants consist of cash funding and equipment, totalling $1,750.
This season, we are proud to giveaway $350,000 in cricket grants. Congratulations to all our 2011 recipients.

In 2011, we also supported cricket clubs that had been affected by the devastating floods in Queensland through our Fours and Sixes for Local Pitches initiative.
At the Commonwealth Bank Series match in Brisbane on 30 January, we donated $4,000 for every four and $6,000 for every six hit during this match. A total of $188,000 was raised through this initiative to help the clubs rebuild and we look forward to seeing all the affected Queensland cricket clubs back on the pitch next season.

We have been proudly supporting the Australian of the Year Awards for 30 years.
