Commonwealth Bank Group announces Head of International Financial Services

27 September 2001

The Managing Director of the Commonwealth Bank Group today announced the appointment of Mr Garry Mackrell as Head of International Financial Services (IFS).

Mr Mackrell assumes responsibility for IFS from Mr Ralph Norris who announced his retirement earlier this year to take effect from the end of September. IFS operates a range of insurance, retirement savings and banking businesses in New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Asia and the pacific.

The Managing Director of the Group, Mr David Murray congratulated Mr Mackrell on his appointment, highlighting his strong background in money market, balance sheet, risk management and distribution activities. That background, along with his experience in merchant banking, a posting with the Bank’s operations in New York and, more recently, as Head of Group Planning and Development, make him well suited for his new role.
