The Warwick branch of the Commonwealth Bank is gearing up for donations to the Akta-Vite Campfires against Cancer Appeal with the arrival this week of the appeal riders enroute from Darwin to Victoria.
A team of volunteer riders is expected to join the Gold Cup and Rodeo parade and local staff from the Bank will assist in collecting donations along the parade route. As part of the longest charity horse ride in the world, the volunteers are passing through more than 70 towns and communities during their 4500 km ride.
The Commonwealth Bank’s Southwest Queensland Area Manager, Paul Canavan, urged all Queenslanders to support the appeal and make a donation at any branch of the Commonwealth Bank. "We believe that cancer is a national issue, given that one in every three Australians develop some form of this illness," he said.
"This disease can touch anyone at any time. It’s vital therefore that research continues. The Commonwealth Bank’s branch network - the largest branch network of any financial services company in Australia - is standing by."
