North Queensland couple wins $10,000 CommSec share portfolio prize

23 May 2003

Business clients of the Commonwealth Bank, Mr Doug and Mrs Janelle Johnston of Tolga, near Cairns, have made a surprise early profit from their purchase of a prime mover, bought using asset finance provided by the Bank.

The couple won a $10,000 CommSec share portfolio prize as a result of arranging asset finance with their local Atherton Commonwealth Bank Commercial Business Manager, Mark Waters, to purchase the prime mover.

On Wednesday morning (21 May) they drove their prime mover to the Atherton Commonwealth Bank, where senior Bank executives, CBFC Queensland Manager, Rod Kempster and Cairns area Executive Manager, Business Banking, Ivan Vickery presented the unexpected $10,000 return on their investment in the vehicle.

Mr and Mrs Johnston were selected in a random computerised draw of all clients who made a Commonwealth Bank or CBFC asset finance transaction between February and April 2003.

The Australia-wide $10,000 prize promotion of the Bank’s asset finance facilities, which include leasing, hire purchase and loans for vehicles, plant or equipment, created strong interest amongst the Bank’s business clients.

The asset finance promotion has been such a success that the Commonwealth Bank is now running a second promotion, which also has a $10,000 share portfolio through CommSec as the prize.

Clients will be entered in the draw each time they complete a CBFC or Commonwealth Bank asset finance transaction during the promotion, which runs to July. The draw for that will occur in August.
