For the second consecutive year the Commonwealth Bank of Australia has taken out Asia’s prestigious FinanceAsia Magazine Award for Australia’s Best Local Bank.
FinanceAsia commented that the Commonwealth Bank won the Best Local Bank Award for the second year because of its dominant share of retail and corporate accounts providing the Bank with an advantage over its competitors.
The Commonwealth Bank’s Institutional Banking division has been involved in some landmark loan syndication transactions in the past 12 months, including its role as joint lead arranger of a A$3.95 billion facility for Southern Cross Airports and another joint lead role on the $1.1 billion demerger of WMC Resources, added FinanceAsia.
In awarding Australia’s Best Local Bank Award to the Commonwealth Bank, FinanceAsia gave consideration to the Bank’s five customer-facing business divisions.
FinanceAsia is a monthly financial publication with offices in Singapore and the Philippines, providing its 16,000 readers with intelligent financial analysis and trends of the region’s influential corporations.
