Nine out of ten Commonwealth Bank staff ignore union action

10 August 2004

The Commonwealth Bank expects no disruption to customer service as a result of union action tomorrow. All branches are expected to remain open and customers will be able to do their banking as usual.

Nine out of ten Bank staff have ignored the union’s call to join recent half-day stoppages. Less than two percent of call centre staff participated in the stoppage yesterday.

While union action aims to cause maximum disruption to customers, the rolling stoppages have not closed branches, disrupted services or delayed customer banking.

Bank staff received a 4% pay increase, effective July 2004.

The Bank thanks its staff for their continued commitment to providing customers with service.
