Last call to apply for $5000 Commonwealth Bank Foundation e-Learning Grants

Time is running out for schools to apply for one of 70 e-learning grants valued at $5,000 each offered by the Commonwealth Bank Foundation.

Applications close on 4 June 2004 (11pm AEST).

Offered in conjunction with the Australian Government’s National Literacy and Numeracy Week, the grants aim to assist the development of literacy and numeracy skills through an e-learning project.

At least one school in each of the Bank’s administrative areas will be awarded a $5,000 e-learning grant to help improve student literacy and numeracy skills.

Through the Commonwealth Bank Foundation, the Bank continues to encourage developments in education to empower Australians – particularly young Australians – to develop skills that will be useful throughout their lives.

The e-learning grants program, now in its third year, recognises the increasingly important role played by on-line initiatives in developing literary and numeracy skills among school children. The grants assist teachers and students to implement and develop e-learning in their schools.

The Bank’s area managers have urged all primary schools to get their applications in quickly. Any school that has an e-learning project on the horizon should ensure that they do not miss the June 4 deadline.

Successful schools will be announced at the National Literacy and Numeracy Week Schools Excellence Awards ceremony on the 27th August 2004.
