Commonwealth Bank of Australia announces key appointment in Asia

Commonwealth Bank of Australia today announced that Yun Ling Chan has been appointed Head of Global Markets, Hong Kong and Greater China, effective immediately.

Ms Chan, who will be based in Hong Kong, joins Commonwealth Bank from Shanghai Pudong Development Bank in China where she was Head of Treasury and Markets.  Prior to that, Ms Chan was Head of Treasury and Fixed Income Marketing at OCBC Bank in Singapore. Previous roles were held with Shinsei Bank in Tokyo, Citibank in Hong Kong and seven years at BNP Paribas in Hong Kong.

Vincent Hua, Head of Product Trading, commented: “Yun Ling has enjoyed a distinguished career in Asia and I am confident that her depth of experience and connections in the region will allow us to strengthen our Global Markets platform.”

Ms Chan will be responsible for all trading and sales in Hong Kong, China and Taiwan reporting to Mr Hua. 

The Bank’s Head of Global Markets and Treasury, Marten Touw, said: “We have identified Asia as a key growth opportunity.  Under the leadership of Yun Ling we plan to grow our Global Markets business in the region by continuing to help our Asian clients meet their investment and risk management objectives.”
