Sunday trading announced for Bankstown, Parramatta, Campbelltown, Hurstville, Penrith, Blacktown and Warringah Mall
The Commonwealth Bank has secured a licence to trade on Sunday in NSW and will open the doors of seven Sydney branches for extended trading from Sunday 2 December. It’s the second stage of a national weekend trading roll-out across four States.
"The Commonwealth Bank is truly Australia’s most convenient bank and the introduction of Sunday trading is part of our commitment to providing greater convenience, accessibility and customer service, giving our customers the service they need when they need it," said Group Executive Retail Banking Services, Ross McEwan.
"For many of our customers Sunday is one of their busiest days, whether they are merchants or just members of the general public."
"It’s logical that we provide banking services on Sunday in NSW to support both our business customers as well as shoppers or people looking for a housing or personal loan," Mr McEwan said.
"We all have busy lives and this is one way that the Commonwealth Bank can take some of the pressure off our customers by being open when they are ready to see us."
The branches which will have Sunday trading are Centro Bankstown, Macarthur Square Campbelltown, Westpoint Blacktown, Penrith Plaza, Westfield Parramatta, Westfield Hurstville and Warringah Mall. These branches are in addition to the nine branches now open for seven day trading in Queensland and Victoria.
According to Mr McEwan, the move to open for Sunday trading also signals increased working flexibility for branch staff.
"Sunday trading will provide staff with an opportunity to alter their working week to better suit their personal needs."
Customers will be welcomed between the hours of 10.30 am and 3.30 pm. A third stage of Sunday branch trading is expected in 2008.
