Charges against a former Bank employee in WA

8 August 2003

Allegations of theft against a Commonwealth Bank branch manager at Karratha, Western Australia, are being thoroughly investigated by Bank Security.

The man has been dismissed from the Bank and charges have been made against him by Western Australian police.

No customer funds have been lost and the Bank assures its customers that they can be confident their funds are safe and they will not be out of pocket as a result of this alleged theft.

The Bank is confident that its internal investigation will identify any procedural weaknesses to reduce ongoing risk.
