The Bank's capitalisation

14 March 2003

Several recent media reports have speculated about the adequacy of the Bank's capitalisation.

Group Executive Stuart Grimshaw says the Bank’s regulatory capital ratios at 31 December 2002 of 7.06% for tier 1 and 9.81% for total capital were well in excess of the regulatory minimums of 4% and 8%. They were comparable with, and in some cases exceed, similar ratios for the other four listed banks in Australia.

The credit ratings for CBA reflect the strength of the Bank and rate it amongst the strongest banks in the world.
