Letter to The Australian about CEO comments on ALP policy

Dear Sir

I refer to an article that appeared on page 1 of your edition on Saturday 18 September 2004 under the headline "Business dumps on Labor" and express concern at the way the article misrepresented the CEO of the Commonwealth Bank, Mr David Murray.

It is clearly wrong to report that Mr Murray "traded blows with Mr Latham" when all that occurred was that Mr Murray was responding to a direct question from your journalist on the ALP Industrial Relations policy.

It is also concerning that a your paper engages in what can only be described as duplicitous behaviour by seeking comment and then using that comment to elicit a response from a third party to make a front page story.
