Letter to the AFR about comments by an unnamed analyst

Dear Sir

I refer to an article that appeared in your edition on Saturday 18 September under the headline "Schubert to take over from Ralph at CBA" and would like to register my disappointment that your paper chooses to report negative quotes without attribution.

To include a negative quote from an "analyst who declined to be named" weakened both the article and the reputation of your paper. If the analyst concerned felt strongly enough to make the comment, then he/she should have the courage to stand by their words publicly.
