Ross McEwan

Retail Banking Services

Ross McEwan was appointed Group Executive Retail Banking Services in May 2007, with responsibility for Retail Banking Services – Australia’s largest retail banking operation. The Retail Bank is focused on providing excellent customer service for its nine million customers across Australia to meet all their financial needs.

Ross joined the Commonwealth Bank as Executive General Manager, Retail Sales in December 2006 where he was responsible for the branch network, third party banking and direct banking.

Prior to joining the Group, Ross was with the ASB group in New Zealand for four years, most recently holding the role of Head of Retail Banking & Marketing. There he was responsible for the Retail Bank, Marketing Bank Direct and Group Sales & Service.

Ross has worked in the insurance and investment industries both in Australia and New Zealand for more than 25 years. He has extensive management experience having spent 18 years in senior executive roles including Managing Director of stockbroking business First NZ Capital Securities and Chief Executive of National Mutual Life Association of Australasia Ltd/AXA New Zealand Ltd.

Ross holds a Bachelor of Business Studies, majoring in Industrial Relations & Personnel Management. Ross enjoys water and snow skiing, cycling, reading and spending time with his family. He is married with two children.
