Achievements

Our commitment and work within each of our sustainability foundations has resulted in a number of key sustainability achievements during 2009-10. These include:

Customers

  • Improving our Roy Morgan Research Main Financial Institution Customer Satisfaction score by 2.6 percentage points from the previous year.
  • Establishing the Indigenous Banking Team, the first of its kind for a major Australian bank.
  • Launching a number of innovative products and services tailored to customers’ needs.
  • Colonial First State rated the number one wealth management platform for the third consecutive year.

 

People

  • Establishing a target to increase the representation of women in management roles (Executive Manager and above) to 35 per cent by December 2014, up from 26.4 per cent in 2009-10.
  • Making significant progress with our Indigenous Employment Strategy target to create 350 additional positions for Indigenous Australians by June 2012.
  • Continuing our commitment to flexibility in work/life balance.
  • Winner of the Australian Sustainability Award for Labour Relations and Human Capital Management.

 

Community

  • Launching our ‘onemillionkids’ commitment and investing $40 million to improve the financial literacy of one million Australian school children by 2015.
  • Expanding the StartSmart financial literacy program into primary schools.
  • Continuing to invest in our long-standing partnerships across the arts, health and welfare, sport and the environment.
  • Many of our people continue to participate in a range of volunteering activities.

 

Governance

  • Launching a Group-wide Risk Appetite Statement (RAS) which defines the Group’s risk appetite.
  • Implementing a program to strengthen our focus on ethical decision making.

 

Environment

  • Continuing to work towards our target to reduce carbon emissions by 20% by 2013 from 2008-09 levels.
  • Reporting on our energy consumption, production and greenhouse gas emissions through a range of mandatory and voluntary reporting schemes.
  • Sponsoring Clean up Australia Day for the second year and hosting 50 clean up sites across the country.
