Dividend

The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (The Group) announced a final dividend of $1.88 per share on Wednesday, 10 August 2011. The final dividend is fully franked and has been paid on 6 October 2011 to owners of ordinary shares on the register at the close of business on 19 August 2011 ("record date"). Shares were quoted ex-dividend on 15 August 2011.  Shares purchased on or after the ex-dividend date do not qualify for the dividend.  The Group's Dividend Reinvestment Plan will continue to operate but no discount was applied to shares issued under the plan for the 2011 final dividend.

Important changes to payment of dividends

As communicated to shareholders in October 2010 and April 2011, to ensure fast, efficient and secure receipt of dividends by shareholders, the Group has commenced paying cash dividends to shareholders residing in Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom by direct credit from the October 2011 payment.  If you did not provide your direct credit instructions by the record date of 19 August 2011 and you are not a full Dividend Reinvestment Plan participant, your dividend is being held on your behalf in a non-interest bearing account.  We encourage you to keep your payment instructions up to date with Link Market Services Limited.  Payment of your dividend into your nominated bank account will be made as soon as possible after receipt of your direct credit instructions.  Changes to your dividend payment instructions can be made online at www.linkmarketservices.com.au or by writing to Link Market Services at Locked Bay A14, Sydney South NSW 1235.
