Short term financing

Francesca Webster and Andrew Bryant launched their own beauty business, armed with little more than a passion to succeed, a desire for independence and a vision of starting their own successful franchise. They quit their jobs in 2004 to open their first Brazilian Beauty outlet in Brisbane.

The couple immersed themselves in the business and drew on their existing skills to build the foundations of a highly successful and rapidly expanding franchise operation.

In just three years, the business expanded to include eight salons across Queensland, with an Adelaide-based store in the making and plans to expand into New South Wales.

This rapid growth brought its own challenges, particularly in the recruitment of suitable franchisees.

Brazilian Beauty’s Local Business Banker was able to help manage the business’ rapid expansion. “Our growth has been fast and we’ve had to ensure we continued to run the business efficiently during the process,” says Francesca.

“Our Local Business banker, Steven Wells, has helped us manage any challenging periods by recommending short-term financing solutions which have enabled us to free-up extra cash to pursue last minute advertising opportunities and make sure all our bases were covered when BAS time came around.”

Francesca and Andrew have designed the Brazilian Beauty franchise to provide greater work–life balance for salon managers. Francesca has developed the infrastructure for franchisees to monitor the business remotely.

Francesca and Andrew’s hard work was recently recognised when they took out the Beauty Services Award at the Queensland Small Business Champion Awards, proudly sponsored by Commonwealth Bank Local Business Banking and the Australian Government.
