Our recruitment process has been developed to ensure we understand your career goals and aspirations and
to unearth how you might fit into our organisation.
Step 1: The application - our roles have a number of criteria to which you will be asked to respond
to during the online application process.
Step 2: Phone interview - if you meet our criteria, one of our recruitment consultants may contact
you for an initial telephone interview.
Step 3: Face-to-face interview - You may then be invited to attend an interview with line managers.
This interview is to determine your ability to perform the role. It is essential to remember that the
interview is not an interrogation - it is a business conversation, where both participants ask and
respond to questions.
You should always think of an interview as a two way process: you are interviewing
a potential manager / employer as much as they are interviewing you. You should use the interview as an
opportunity to gather as much information as you can and to assess if the area, manager and role will be
right for you.
Step 4: Reference checks - we conduct at least two reference checks with previous employers. We
recommend that you contact your referees before we do. We will not conduct any reference checks without
contacting you first.
Step 5: Probity check (Background check) - employment within some areas of the Bank is conditional
upon passing a probity check. This may include a criminal history check, ASIC check or bankruptcy check.
This information is required to help us assess your suitability to the role that you have applied for.
You will be advised if you are required to complete a Background Check Form. Your application will not be able to proceed
if this check is not conducted. If you are under the age of 18, you will be required to complete a Juvenile Criminal
Consent Form.
It's natural to be slightly anxious at an employment interview. However, by doing some preparation before hand,
the more confident you'll feel, and less anxious you'll be. Here are some tips which may assist you:

Conduct your research on the Bank and the area in which you are interested in.

Read the position description before your interview, and prepare some potential responses to questions, i.e. examples of how you previously responded to various situations and challenges in the workplace.

Be prepared to talk about your areas for development. Select a skill that you wish to improve, and think of a way you could overcome that weakness.

Rehearse! Sit down with a friend, or practice in front of the mirror - look at your body language, and facial expressions.

Prepare some questions to ask during the interview.

Be on time for your interview. If you are unavoidably delayed, ensure you have a contact number for the person you are meeting to let them know you are running late.

Look professional and well groomed - first impressions count.

Finally, remember the three C's - be Cool, Calm and Confident.
