FAQs for mobile Foreign Exchange

Is this the same rate I get if I visit a Commonwealth Bank branch?

The rates are subject to change at the Bank's discretion. Whilst every effort is made to ensure the information is accurate, rates change throughout the day and you should confirm the latest rate with the Bank prior to making a decision.

Why is there a buy and sell rate?

The Bank buy rate is the rate that Commonwealth Bank will use to buy currency from you.

The Bank sell rate is the rate that Commonwealth Bank will use to sell currency to you.

E.g. I want to buy USD is the Bank's sell rate for USD.

Why are travellers cheques and foreign drafts not available on the application?

This application shows rates for our most popular products and services. Travellers cheques use the same buy and sell rates as foreign cash rates.  Foreign drafts use the same buy and sell rates as International Money Transfer (IMT) rates.

What is a currency alert?

A currency alert is a notification when a currency value you have set has been reached. You can set the currency value you want to be notified of through the currency alert function on the Foreign Exchange Toolkit homepage. The alert is a 'push notification' on the phone, similar to an SMS alert notification.

Is there a cost for receiving a currency alert?

We do not charge you any additional fees to receive a currency alert. Currency alerts use data and your service provider may charge you for data usage.

How many alerts can I have?

You can set up to 10 active alerts at any one time.

Why did I not receive my currency alert?

Currency alerts require a data connection. If you are not in an area with a data connection you may not get an alert until data coverage is received.

What does the trending arrow indicate?

A trending arrow displays whether the rate of a selected currency has moved upward or downward when compared to the same currency at the start of the previous day's trading.

Can I buy foreign cash or a Travel Money Card on this application?

There is currently no functionality to buy foreign cash or a Travel Money Card on this application.

How can I stop my alert when I am travelling?

If you are in a data coverage area you cannot stop an active alert notification. You must delete the alert on your currency alert list to stop the alert notification.

Why can't I perform an International Money Transfer (IMT) on this application?

Currently the application does not support International Money Transfers, however these can be done online through NetBank and CommBiz, or by visiting any of our branches.

What does the pop-up notification 'Data currently unavailable mean'?

It may mean there is a problem with the internet connection. Please check your internet connection and try again.
