Have you been affected by the Air Australia collapse?

If you are a Commonwealth Bank credit card customer who has qualified for complimentary insurance cover and you’ve been affected by the Air Australia collapse, we may be able to help.

Who to contact

  • To confirm that you’re covered by International Travel Insurance under your credit card contract, call Zurich on 1800 648 093.
  • If you have booked a trip with Air Australia using a Commonwealth Bank credit card, but haven’t left yet, call us on 13 22 21 to see if we can arrange a refund.  

 

Are you covered by our complimentary International Travel Insurance?

If you have spent at least $950 on each eligible person’s travel costs, or at least 90% of the cost of each eligible person’s return overseas travel tickets using your Commonwealth Bank Gold, Platinum or Diamond Credit Card, your Commonwealth Awards Points with Flight Centre, or a combination of them both before leaving Australia, you may qualify for complimentary International Travel Insurance to help with any out-of-pocket expenses you may have incurred as a result of the unexpected cancellation of Air Australia flights. 

You may be covered for up to $5,000 per person, or, if you are travelling with your spouse or dependent children, you may be covered for up to $12,000.

 

Which Commonwealth Bank credit cards receive complimentary International Travel Insurance?

You will receive up to three months complimentary International Travel Insurance, for eligible travel purchased with the:

  • Low Fee Gold credit card
  • Low Rate Gold credit card
  • Gold Awards credit card

 

You will receive up to 12 months complimentary International Travel Insurance, for eligible travel purchased with the:

  • Platinum Awards credit card
  • Diamond Awards credit card

 

To claim, you must:

  • have satisfied the eligibility criteria for Complimentary Insurance Cover as set out in the terms and conditions of your insurance booklet;
  • have made the original booking through a licenced travel agent;     
  • recover the maximum amount possible from any statutory fund, compensation scheme or other source (for example, by following the procedure for disputed credit card transactions); and
  • follow the terms and conditions contained in the credit card insurance booklet.
