When do I pay my annual fee?
One annual fee applies for both cards. Your annual fee will be charged to
your account on the first business day of the second month following the first
use of your card and on or about each anniversary of that date.
What if I’m struggling to make my payments?
If you fall behind with your payments, the first step is to stop using your
cards and ask any additional cardholder to do the same.
Otherwise this could seriously damage your credit history and financial
rating. Please call us on 13 1431 to discuss a suitable repayment plan,
or visit a branch to discuss the options for dealing with your situation. We
can help you manage your debt or create a payment plan budget if
necessary.
Don’t most places surcharge for using American Express®?
Supermarkets such as Coles and Woolworths, department stores such as KMart,
Myer, David Jones and Bunnings and major petrol stations such as BP do
not charge a surcharge for American Express.
Merchants such as restaurants and boutiques may apply a surcharge but by law they must have clear signage to indicate the amount the percentage of the transaction they surcharge.
If you do choose to use the American Express Card at a surcharging merchant, the customer will earn points on the total amount they pay, including the surcharge.

Commonwealth Awards points are earned on eligible transactions and are subject to points capping. For full details see Commonwealth Awards Program Terms and Conditions available here.
