PayPass

MasterCard PayPass is safe to use. MasterCard and the Commonwealth Bank's security systems continue to protect you from unauthorised transactions, so the same conditions apply to PayPass as your swiped transactions.

When it comes to card security, Commonwealth Bank is a leader in fraud protection. Our state of the art technology monitors your PayPass transactions 24/7 against fraud. So if any unusual activity takes place, you’ll be alerted immediately. And if the unlikely happens and an unauthorised transaction occurs on your card, we’ll reimburse you 100%1.

However, these features also enhance security for added peace of mind:

  1. You don’t have to hand your card over at any time throughout the transaction.
  2. Your card must touch the PayPass reader to work, so there's no risk of accidental payments.
  3. Even if your card accidentally touches the reader more than once, the transaction is only processed once.

If your MasterCard is lost, stolen, or used without your authorisation, notify us as soon as possible, by calling 13 2221.

1 Provided you comply with the Credit Cards Conditions of Use if you have a credit card, and/or the Transactions, Savings and Investment Accounts Terms and Conditions if you have a debit card.
