Set up direct debits on your credit card

Setting up a direct debit so you can automate your bill payments using your credit card means you won't need to worry about missing a payment again. You can set up a direct debit for a variable amount (such as a phone bill) or a set amount (such as an insurance premium).

Setting up a direct debit

To set up a direct debit on your Commonwealth Bank credit card account, just follow these easy steps:

  • Decide on the bills you would like to be paid automatically
  • Call the relevant service provider (e.g. Energy Australia or Optus)
  • Tell them you would like to set up a direct debit and give them your Commonwealth Bank credit card number, expiry date and card verification code (the last 3 digits on the back of your card)

If you ever wish to cancel a direct debit on your credit card, simply call your service provider.

Switch your direct debit payments to us

If you’ve recently opened a new Commonwealth Bank credit card account and would like to switch your regular direct debit payments to your new credit card, simply call your service provider direct, or try our online switching service. It’s easy to use and take only a few minutes to complete.

Switching allows you to consolidate all your payments making it easier to manage your finances. Before you get started you’ll need:

  • A Commonwealth Bank personal transaction, business transaction or credit card account
  • Details of your regular direct debits and credits (e.g. telephone and electricity bills, car repayment details, share dividends)
  • Your new Commonwealth Bank account details
  • Your previous bank account details

Switch your credit card account now.

 

Did you Know?
