Upgrading to a Gold Awards, Platinum Awards or Diamond Awards card

Our Awards credit cards offer you two cards, a Commonwealth Bank American Express® Card and a Commonwealth Bank MasterCard®. You earn points for every $1 you spend when you shop or pay most bills which can then be redeemed for an incredible range of shopping and travel awards.

The Commonwealth Bank American Express Card allows you to accelerate your points earning with more points per $1 spent, while the Commonwealth Bank MasterCard offers the convenience of worldwide acceptance at over 30 million locations. Both cards are conveniently linked to the one account with one credit limit, balance, statement, annual fee and interest rates.

Upgrading to a Low Fee Gold or Low Rate Gold credit card

Platinum Awards and Diamond Awards credit limit

It’s a simple process to upgrade to a Platinum Awards or Diamond Awards card but before you begin you should ensure the minimum credit limit suits your lifestyle.  A Diamond Awards credit card has a minimum credit limit of $18,000.

How to upgrade

To upgrade your credit card simply call us on 13 2221, download and complete the request form (PDF 283KB) or drop into your local branch.

If you are successful, we will send you a letter of offer and your card within 10 working days. You will be asked to activate this card at which time your old card will be closed.

Remember direct debits and regular payments will not be automatically transferred over to your new card. Our online switching service can help you switch your regular direct debit payments to your new credit card account in just a few, easy steps.
