Creating a secure password

Having a secure password is one of the simple steps you can take to help protect yourself online. The NetBank password 'strength meter' provides you a visible indication of how secure your password is when you are registering or changing your NetBank password.

Some tips for creating a secure password are:

• Your password must be between 8 and 16 characters long
• Use a mix of letters, numbers and symbols. An example of a secure password is: au09nsw1%#$
• Avoid using words from a dictionary (including foreign words), as hackers use dictionary tools to help them
• Choose a password that is not easy for anyone to guess, e.g. your name, part of your address
• Don’t share your password with anyone

The NetBank password strength bar provides you a visible indication of how secure your password is when you are registering or changing your NetBank password.

 

 

Remember my client number

We have brought one of the most popular features from our mobile and tablet versions of NetBank to your desktop.

By selecting the ‘Remember my client number’ option you will save the time you would have spent entering in your client number when logging on to NetBank. It is important to note however that NetBank will only remember your client number on the computer from which you have selected this option from & will always be masked to ensure nobody else can record your client number.

For security reasons you should not use this function if you access NetBank from:

• A shared computer, such as a family or work computer
• A public computer, such as one at a library, school or internet café

You can opt out of the ‘Remember client number’ feature at any time by deselecting this option from the NetBank log on page.
