Security checklist

The Commonwealth Bank is committed to your online security and uses state of the art fraud prevention and detection technology, monitored around the clock by a dedicated team, to actively protect customers.

You also have an important role to play in security. By taking these simple measures to protect yourself online, you will be using the Internet safely, NetBank and beyond!
 

  • Create a secure NetBank password. Our NetBank password ‘strength meter’ provides you a visible indication of how secure your password is when you are registering or changing your NetBank password.
  • Run an up-to-date Internet Security Package (antivirus, antispyware, firewall)
  • Enable Automatic Updates for your Operating System
  • Register for NetCode – FREE security enhancement
  • Login to NetBank directly at www.netbank.com.au, never access NetBank via links from thirdparty sites
  • Always logout of NetBank using the logoff button located at the top right of the screen
  • Always close your browser window immediately once you have logged out. Open a new browser window to continue surfing the Internet
  • Verify the authenticity of Bank emails via the ‘Bank Messages’ inbox within NetBank
  • Regularly change your NetBank password and personal identification questions
  • Keep your contact details up to date
  • Report any suspicious activity on your account immediately to the NetBank Help Desk on 13 2221 option 4 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
