What is XPOS? How it Works How You Benefit How Customers Benefit What is BPOINT?
What is XPOS? More Business For You!

Every day, millions of Australians make payments using EFTPOS because of its ease and convenience.

XPOS is exclusive to the Commonwealth Bank, processing all non-financial transactions through an EFTPOS terminal or point-of-sale, allowing you to expand your standard EFTPOS capabilities. XPOS allows you to sell electronic pre-paid products and services and accept bill payments for a commission, as well as automating in-store card programs and ancillary card payments. You can choose any or all of the following 4 XPOS functions:

1. Products and services

The slimline EFTPOS terminal is turned into a virtual store, enabling more than 150 products and services to be sold - via the EFTPOS printer - with no extra requirement for storage!

Products, such as prepaid mobile phone cards, are printed and issued from the terminal as required, eliminating any expensive up-front costs. Whatever you currently sell, there's an XPOS product or service that could provide a suitable boost to your revenue stream.

2. Gift cards

XPOS enables you to run a more efficient gift voucher system, via slick plastic cards with a magnetic strip. It conveniently replaces the time-consuming processes of the traditional 'paper gift voucher' system - and can significantly reduce your operating costs. (This XPOS service is provided by E Com Industries.)

3. Bill payment

Around 40-45% of all bills in Australia are paid by customers over-the-counter. That's approximately 150 million bill payments per annum. With BPOINT, the Commonwealth Bank's one-stop bill payment system - XPOS merchants will be able to tap into this huge market.

BPOINT will facilitate bill payments to some of the largest billers in Australia, including telecommunications and utility companies, government agencies and banking and finance companies. Because the billing cycles of billers vary (fortnightly, monthly, quarterly, annually), BPOINT will soon make it possible to attract regular customers to participating outlets.

The Commonwealth Bank is the largest biller institution in Australia. BPOINT can easily and quickly be offered to existing billing organisations. Target billers include major telecommunications, utilities, insurance and finance organisations.

4. Bartercard

Here's another great opportunity to create more business through XPOS.

Bartercard formalises the age-old art of bartering, i.e. a cashless exchange of goods and services between two parties. It is a business-to-business network that actively works to increase your customer base and profits.

A Bartercard transaction is similar to a credit card transaction, except members use a currency known as Trade Dollars ($T1 = $AUD1).

Previously, Bartercard Trade Dollars could only be processed manually. Now you can accept this form of payment electronically. It's another avenue for business, as quick as a credit card transaction and it reduces after-sales back-office work.

How much does it cost?

XPOS is free for EFTPOS PLUS and EFTPOS Integrated customers, and includes all telecommunications products, CityLink tolling, attraction tickets, magazine subscriptions and fishing licences.

Prices for gift cards are available on application to E Com Industries as it is a tailored program.
