Our Career Comeback Program is a paid Program for experienced professionals who’ve taken a career break of two years or more, and are looking to return to the workforce.

Run over 12 weeks, the Program is designed to provide you with the re-entry support and training you need to thrive. 

You’ll join one of our Institutional Banking & Markets (IB&M) businesses, where your skills and experience will be highly valued and put to use. You’ll have access to a comprehensive induction process, coaching, mentoring and fantastic networking opportunities to support your transition back to work. Upon completion of the Program, those who have demonstrated their abilities and motivation to succeed may be eligible for a permanent position.

What's involved?

  • A 12-week Program on a paid fixed-term contract, with the opportunity to roll into a permanent position at the end of the Program
  • Flexible work options, hours and arrangements that work for you*
  • Comprehensive on-boarding and industry-specific skills training
  • Access to Executive Career Coaching
  • A dedicated mentor and buddy
  • A line manager and program manager who will assist you in your transition back to work, with regular check-ins

* Keep in mind, flexible working arrangements can be dependent on the nature of the role. We’ll work with you on an arrangement that best suits you. 

Eligibility criteria

  • Our Career Comeback Program is designed for people who:

    • Have taken a career break of two years or more (essential)
    • Are interested in returning to work on a permanent basis (both part-time and full-time options available)
    • Have at least five years’ of relevant professional experience
    • Are commercially astute, driven and thrive in collaborative teams
    • Are Sydney-based and have permanent Australian working rights

    For all successful candidates the Program will commence in March 2024.

Application process

  • Step 1: Online application

    Submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your interests in the Career Comeback Program.

    Step 2: Telephone discussion

    If it looks like you are passionate and may have the relevant experience we’re looking for, we’ll call you to have a chat about your application and invite you to interview with us.

    Step 3: First interview

    Your first interview will be with the Hiring Manager and a stakeholder of your Hiring Manager’s choice. This interview will be held on Microsoft Teams, or in person if it is safe and you are comfortable to do so. If you are successful in progressing through this stage, you'll be invited to a second interview the following week.

    Step 4: Second interview   

    You may be asked to come in for a second interview. Your second interview will be with a stakeholder of your Hiring Manager’s choice. This interview will also be held on Microsoft Teams, or in person if it is safe and you are comfortable to do so.

    Step 5: Offer

    Successful candidates will receive news of their offer.

Here's what you need to know about our 12-week paid Program, designed to support experienced professionals in their return to work.

To be considered for the Career Comeback Program, candidates must meet the below criteria:

  • Are currently on a career break for 2+ years*
  • Possess at least 5+ years of relevant professional work experience
  • Have full-time working rights in Australia
  • Are Sydney based.

* Taking part in consulting/freelance work or having generated some income from non-professional activities does not disqualify applicants.

No. We have a wide range of opportunities available that welcome a variety of backgrounds. For example, in our Client Solutions or Non-Financial Risk functions, candidates with backgrounds in operations, risk, consulting, project management or business law are encouraged to apply.

You'll receive an update on your application. If we think you may have the experience and passion we’re looking for, we’ll be in touch to invite you in for an interview.

The position levels offered are across the Associate Director and Director level. These positions would typically mandate 5-20 years’ experience. The salaries on offer are dependent on the specific role and your level of experience.

The Program will start in March 2024. We begin the Program with a 2 day orientation to help you settle into your role and  the organisation.
