Commonwealth Bank appoints new Group Treasurer

The Commonwealth Bank’s Group Executive Financial and Risk Management, Mr Stuart Grimshaw, today announced that Mr Marten Touw will take up the appointment of Executive General Manager Group Treasury. This role became vacant upon the retirement of the previous incumbent, Mr Ray Wilkie on July 1, 2002 and Mr Touw will join the Bank on September 16, 2002.

Mr Touw is currently General Manager, Head of Markets Shinsei Bank located in Tokyo. Mr Touw has been responsible for the restructuring and franchise development of the financial markets areas of Shinsei Bank including capital management, funding and liquidity, equity trading, and sales and trading for foreign exchange and derivatives. From 1994 to 2000 Mr Touw worked at Westpac Banking Corporation with his last four years there in the role of Group Treasurer.

Mr Grimshaw said, "Marten brings with him a breadth of experience in the international financial markets that will add tremendous value to the organization. He has led teams both domestically and internationally to achieve strong performance and will add to the depth of the Bank’s senior management team."
