Commonwealth Bank sets new benchmark with Australia’s first ‘lite’ EFTPOS terminal

29 September 2003

The Commonwealth Bank has set a new benchmark in EFTPOS terminals by introducing Australia’s first ‘lite’ EFTPOS terminal. PayLite is designed for smaller businesses that process fewer transactions which do not require all the extras found on traditional EFTPOS terminals. PayLite is exclusive to the Commonwealth Bank.

"PayLite will appeal to merchants who are currently using EFTPOS terminals with more features than small businesses really need," said Peter Roeleven, the Commonwealth Bank’s General Manager, Merchant Acquiring, Working Capital Services.

"The low rental cost of PayLite, coupled with the proven cost-efficiency benefits of EFTPOS, will also be attractive to many merchants using paper-based systems and help them to upgrade to electronic processing. The tangible benefits of online authorisation, including spending more time with customers and making fewer trips to the Bank are now truly affordable.

"Additional benefits of PayLite are its operation, ease of use, a sleek, modern design encompassing an integrated printer and modem, as well as a small footprint taking up minimal counter space," said Mr. Roeleven.

The PayLite terminal rental is a low $16.50 a month.
