COMMONWEALTH BANK WILL SUPPORT CUSTOMERS DURING INDUSTRIAL ACTION

The Commonwealth Bank today said that it was extremely disappointed that the FSU has shown no regard for the Bank’s customers by calling for industrial action on Friday 2 July. The Bank said that it will do everything possible to support customers and endeavour to meet their banking requirements.

Mr Hugh Harley, Group Executive Retail Banking Services said, "We are disappointed at the union’s decision, which aims to inconvenience our customers before a weekend. We expect to maintain service to our customers. If we are not able to provide full service in all locations, we will advise our customers and help them with alternative arrangements."

Mr Harley encouraged customers to consider their banking needs and suggested, where possible, that customers should bring forward any transaction or other banking business.

"We believe that most of our staff see the Bank’s offer as fair, particularly given that staff are receiving a 4% pay increase from 1 July. We are confident that staff will support us in providing services to their customers."
