Commonwealth Bank And Red Cross Open Appeal Account For SA Fire Sufferers
14 January 2005
The Commonwealth Bank has opened a special account for public donations to the Australian Red Cross to help people affected by the bushfires in South Australia.
Donations can be made at any of the Bank’s more than 1,000 branches across the nation, to the Australian Red Cross SA West Coast Bushfire Appeal 2005, account number 5006 10126920.
Customers wishing to remit funds to their families in the affected areas can do so free of normal bank fees.
Earlier this week (12 January), the Commonwealth Bank activated its emergency assistance package to help those affected by the SA fires. The package includes prioritising insurance claims to CommInsure, waiving some fees and charges, postponing credit card instalments, providing emergency credit limit increases, and restructuring loans or loan repayment arrangements to help the Bank’s affected customers in the aftermath of the fires.
Donations to help the SA fire victims can be made through any Commonwealth Bank branch across Australia to:
Account Name: Australian Red Cross SA West Coast Bushfire Appeal 2005
Account Number: 5006 10126920
Alternatively, donations can be made by visiting www.redcross.org.au or calling 1800 246 850.
The Bank’s collaboration with the Australian Red Cross to help the fire victims follows a similar collection arrangement announced after the Asian tsunami disaster. That separate account remains open. So far $71 million dollars has been pledged for the Australian Red Cross tsunami aid program.
