Commonwealth Bank branches to accept donations for families of Tasmanian mining tragedy

28 April 2006

The Commonwealth Bank has responded to the tragic mine disaster at Beaconsfield in Tasmania by establishing a special account for the families affected by the tragedy.

“The Bank was approached by the Australian Workers Union and had no hesitation in supporting this important fund raising activity,” said the Bank’s Group Executive for Retail Banking Services, Michael Cameron.

“The Commonwealth Bank is concerned for the entire Beaconsfield community, but understands the families of the men involved in the mine collapse will need extra financial support.”

“The Commonwealth Bank urges everyone to support this cause.”

Donations can be left at any Branch of the Commonwealth Bank and directed to an account named AWU Beaconsfield Miners Family Support Fund. BSB: 067028, A/C No: 10175554
