Commonwealth Bank bolsters online travel services

10 April 2007

The Commonwealth Bank has announced a new internet travel money service called ExpressFX, bolstering the Bank’s range of internet based financial services for travellers.

ExpressFX enables all travellers – regardless of whether they are a Commonwealth Bank customer - to order the foreign currency of their choice and collect it from any of the Commonwealth Bank’s one-thousand plus branches in Australia within three days of placing the order.

"ExpressFX is about providing travellers with convenience and choice, allowing them to buy foreign currency when it suits them and where it suits them, rather than be reliant on buying currency at an airport or in tourist destinations, often at a less attractive rate," said Matt Comyn, General Manager, CommSec.

Mr Comyn said that ExpressFX would be most suited to customers outside of the major metropolitan CBDs and for customers requiring foreign currency outside the more popular currencies – the British Pound, Euro, US Dollar and New Zealand Dollar.

"ExpressFX is great for travellers in regional and rural Australia," said Mr Comyn.

Mr Comyn said Express FX added another boost to the Commonwealth Bank’s travel money and planning services.

"We now provide travellers with online access for foreign currency, Travellers Cash cards, cheques, travel insurance and even finance for a holiday," said Mr Comyn.

The Commonwealth Bank online travel centre is at and includes the newest service to order foreign currency notes and travellers cheques online - Express FX.
