Commonwealth Bank appoints new Head of Institutional Banking in Queensland

The Commonwealth Bank today announced the appointment of Leon Allen as Head of Institutional Banking in Queensland joining the group on 14 May, 2007.
In his new role, Mr Allen will have oversight of Institutional Banking’s overall business in Queensland and report to General Manager, Richard Green.
Mr Allen will join the Commonwealth Bank from Queensland Treasury where he helped lead the recent $3 billion divestment of the retail arms of Energex and Ergon Energy and the sale of the Allgas distribution business.
He also has experience in the private sector having worked at Ergon Energy overseeing the development of capability for the contestable energy market in Queensland.
According to Ian Saines, Executive General Manager Institutional Banking, Mr Allen will bring a detailed understanding of the Queensland government combined with a very strong commercial focus.
"Leon’s relationships with corporate and government sectors will complement the exceptional industry expertise we already have."
Mr Allen has worked as a senior adviser in both the Office of the Premier and Minister for Trade and the Office of the Deputy Premier and Treasurer.
"This senior appointment demonstrates our commitment to the region and to enhancing our level of engagement with Queensland business. Leon will bring strategic insights to what is already a strongly performing business for us," said Mr Saines.
