Commonwealth Bank is Hitwise Australia Online Performance award winner

Sydney, 26 March 2009: Commonwealth Bank’s NetBank online banking service has been named the number one website in the Business and Finance – Banks and Financial Institutions category for 2008, in the latest Hitwise Australia Online Performance Awards.

In addition to the Internet Banking top spot, CommSec was also awarded the top accolade in Business and Finance – Stocks and Shares. This year is fourth consecutive year Commonwealth Bank and CommSec have been awarded number one for these categories.

The annual Hitwise Online Performance Awards recognise excellence in online performance through public popularity, awarding websites in over 100 industries

Results of the Hitwise Online Performance Awards are based on the Internet usage of approximately 3 million Australian Internet users visiting over 140,000 Australian websites, with winners receiving the greatest market share of visits throughout 2008 in their industry.

According to Hitwise statistics, Commonwealth Bank’s NetBank is the only bank in the top ten websites Australians visit each week.
