Commonwealth Bank announces partnership with Telstra Business Women's Awards

Sydney, 28 May 2009: The Commonwealth Bank has partnered with the Telstra Business Women’s Awards to exclusively support the Business Owner category.

Head of Women’s Banking for the Commonwealth Bank, Gail Hackett, said the Group was proud to join the Awards program for the first time and help recognise the achievements and success of Australian women.

“We are committed to supporting Australian women in business,” Gail said.

“Our sponsorship of the Awards program is an important way for us to actively recognise and reward the talent and dedication of female business owners.

“The Commonwealth Bank has a long history of supporting women and this year our status as Employer of Choice for Women wasrenewed by the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency (EOWA) for the eighth consecutive year.”

Gail said the Commonwealth Bank Business Owner Award would recognise female business owners with a 50 per cent share or more in a business and who had responsibility for key decision making.

“We understand the unique challenges of these women and applaud their achievements,” she said.

“We are working towards supporting women through our own Women’s Banking unit, which will be launched later this year to offer tailored, innovative products and services that help women achieve their goals.”
