Major award wins for the Commonwealth Bank

Friday 4 June, 2010: Commonwealth Bank has completed a sweep of the finance industry’s major annual Awards with confirmation the Bank secured the highest honours in four categories at the  Australian Banking + Finance Awards last night.

Commonwealth Bank received awards for Australian Financial Institution of the Year (Retail); Ralph Norris, Financial Services Executive of the Year; Michael Harte, Chief Information Officer of the Year; and Best Career Development Programme.

The Australian Banking + Finance wins complete a successful week for Commonwealth Bank who on Wednesday collected Money Magazine Awards for Bank of the Year, Money Minder of the Year, Margin Lender of the Year (CommSec) as well as finalist recognition for Home Lender of the Year, Credit Card Issuer of the Year, Banking Website of the Year, and Business Bank of the Year.

“These awards are thanks to the hard work and determination of all our people,” Commonwealth Bank Group Executive Human Resources and Group Services, Barbara Chapman said.

“The last couple of years have been extremely challenging for the global banking sector and the Australian banking sector has emerged in a strong position but despite the improving economic outlook, there is no room for complacency.

It is especially rewarding that our successes are also being judged on our customer service levels, product mix and operational efficiency,” Ms Chapman.
