Commonwealth Bank donates $50,000 to Red Cross emergency services

8 October 2010: Commonwealth Bank today announced it has donated $50,000 to Red Cross emergency services, a decision made in the wake of the Victorian floods.

Michelle Winzer, Regional General Manager Service and Sales Regional Victoria and Tasmania at Commonwealth Bank said: “After speaking to our people on the ground, and after seeing the devastation, we now have a better idea of the impact to the people in these Regional areas.

“As time passes it becomes more evident that an enormous amount of assistance is required. In recognition of this, I am pleased to announce the Bank’s additional support for the people in Regional Victoria,” Ms Winzer said.

The Bank last week activated its emergency assistance package for customers affected by the disaster.

Ms Winzer, on behalf of all at the Bank, once again expressed sympathy to the families and communities affected by this disaster and hopes that this donation helps contribute to the rebuilding of these local communities.

“Red Cross has a long history of working with communities before and after emergencies and we know that the funds provided will contribute to ensuring Red Cross can continue to support these and other communities to prepare for and recover from emergencies,” she said.
