Commonwealth Bank calls for grant applicants from flood affected regions

2 February 2011: The Commonwealth Bank is now calling for applications for their $5 million Commonwealth Bank Community Group Flood Assistance Grants Program.

The grant applications are part of a new flood assistance package released by the Bank this week, and will be distributed among not-for-profit community groups who have suffered damage or loss as a result of the recent floods, which have affected most States and Territories across Australia.
Commonwealth Bank’s Chief Executive Officer, Ralph Norris said, "We fully understand the impact that these floods have had on the backbone of many communities – and their effect on the community groups made up of volunteers and others who work tirelessly to make a community tick.
"It is for this reason that the Commonwealth Bank has established a $5 million grants program aimed at directly assisting those groups that our communities will depend on to re-establish themselves."

Individual grants of up to $20,000 will be made available to successful applicants.

Applications are now open and close on 11 March 2011.

Details on how community groups can apply are available at: and through our branch network.

The Commonwealth Bank Community Group Flood Assistance Grants Program is just one part of the Bank’s flood assistance initiative for customers and the community - which totals over $57 million.
