NetBank Mobile now available for Android smartphones

Sydney, 27 February 2011:  From tomorrow, Commonwealth Bank customers with an Android smartphone can download a customised NetBank mobile banking app from the Android Market.

The Bank's optimised for iPhone mobile banking platform launched two years ago, has been modified for Android to enhance the mobile banking experience with customised screen sizes and resolution, along with faster processing times.  What's more, an additional 'Remember Client' feature has been built in to speed up the logon process for NetBank Mobile customers.

According to Commonwealth Bank Executive General Manager Direct Channels, Quentin Boyes, the Bank has seen a tremendous growth in the popularity of NetBank mobile banking since it launched its iPhone mobile offering two years ago.

"Approximately 20 per cent of total daily NetBank logons are initiated through mobile devices with iPhone holding pole position to date.  However, we have seen the popularity of Android phones double in the past three months, hence this launch.

"Our primary goal is to monitor how our customers are interacting with NetBank and stay one step ahead to deliver the best online customer experience.  We have a number of exciting new developments coming down the line over the coming months to further help our customers manage their finances on the go, anytime, anywhere," said Mr Boyes.

NetBank mobile banking functions include:

  • Check account balances in real time;
  • Track recent transaction history;
  • Transfer funds;
  • Pay bills using BPAY;
  • View current applications from the Bank;
  • Review future transactions; and
  • Be advised about any outages in advance.

NetBank mobile for Android devices is available for download from the Android Market.

The current iPhone app is available for download from the iTunes app store, while customers with other internet enabled mobile phones can access mobile banking from:

Existing Android users who have bookmarked the iPhone optimised mobile banking site will automatically be directed to the Android optimised version.

Mobile access to NetBank is available to all Commonwealth Bank customers who have registered for NetBank with NetCode SMS or NetCode Token security using their existing client number and password.  Customers not registered for NetBank can visit to register or call 13 2221.
