Switching your home loan via NetBank

We’re always open to ideas on how we can make your banking simpler and more convenient, and we wanted to let you know how easy it is to manage your home loan online.

Switching your home loan

Through the ‘Manage my accounts’ page in NetBank, you can now switch your home loan online if:

  • Your loan is a variable rate* loan (whether it’s a Standard Variable rate or Economiser rate loan)
  • Your existing repayments are principal and interest (that is, you are not paying interest only or interest in advance), and
  • You are a personal borrower with authority to operate (no guarantor or trust is involved), and your co-borrower doesn’t need to authorise changes.

You can switch your loan in the following ways:

  • To one of our fixed rate loans (with terms from 1 to 5 years, 7, 10 or 15 years)
  • Between our Standard Variable rate loan and Economiser rate/Rate Saver loan
  • From principal and interest to interest only repayments

There are a range of links within the NetBank switching form which allow you to gather all the information you need to decide whether you would like to switch your loan, such as product features, rates and our home loan calculator which lets you estimate your new repayments.

We will let you know via a NetBank bank message once we have reviewed and processed your request. If we accept your request, both your required minimum repayment and your direct debit amount (if applicable) will be changed automatically.

What else can you do

Current Details

You can check the current details of your home loan via NetBank – just go to the ‘View accounts’ tab and select ‘Account Information’. You can also view:

  • Up to 2 years of transaction history on your home loan by going to the ‘View accounts’ tab and selecting ‘Transactions’, and

Change Repayment Amount

You can also change your home loan repayments online if your loan meets certain conditions:

  • Your loan is a variable rate loan
  • Your existing repayments are principal and interest (that is, you are not paying interest only or interest in advance), and
  • You are a personal borrower with authority to operate (no guarantor or trust is involved), and your co-borrower doesn’t need to authorise changes.

This can also be completed through the ‘Manage my accounts’ page.
