Platinum Debit MasterCard FAQs
What’s the catch?
There isn’t one. There are no additional fees. We’re giving you Platinum Debit at no extra cost, because you’re a valued CommBank customer and we feel you deserve to be rewarded.
How do I activate and choose a PIN for my new card?
The fastest and easiest way is online. Just log on to the CommBank app, select the Cards tab and then select your new card, or go to commbank.com.au/new and enter your NetBank log on details, then follow the Card activation links. Alternatively, you can visit any of our branches with your new card or call 13 2221 with your new card number and phone banking password handy.
Can I start using my new card straight away?
Once activated, you’ll need to choose a Personal Identification Number (PIN), then your new card will be ready to use. Again the fastest way to do this is with the CommBank app or through NetBank, but you can also do this at any of our branches, just bring your new card.
What if I have other accounts linked to my debit card?
Any accounts that you’ve linked to your debit card will automatically be linked to your new Platinum Debit card once you activate it.
Will my account number or BSB change?
No. Your new Platinum Debit card number will replace your current debit card number, but your account number and BSB won’t change.
What happens to my direct debits?
If you have direct debits set up using your BSB and account number, you don’t need to do anything. If you’ve set up any direct debits using your 16-digit card number and your card expiry date, you’ll need to update them. Simply contact any billers that debit your account and provide them with your BSB and account number. You’ll only ever have to do this once, as these details won’t ever change. Alternatively, you can also update your direct debits using your new card number and expiry. Visit commbank.com.au/switch for help on how to get started.
Once my new card is activated, will I still be able to see my old transactions in NetBank?
Yes, you can view your old transactions in NetBank exactly the same way you do now.
