When offered an upgrade to Diamond Awards at no extra cost the question most people ask is, what’s the catch? Well, the good news is there isn’t one.

We recognise you as a valuable Commonwealth Bank customer and we’d like to reward you with an upgrade to Diamond Awards at no extra cost. It’s our way of saying thanks for being with us. This means you’ll receive all the additional benefits of Diamond Awards for the same annual fee as your current card for as long as you hold Diamond Awards.

While accepting your Diamond Awards upgrade is as easy as activating your new card, we understand that you might have a few questions you'd like answered first.

Once your new credit card is activated, your old one will be cancelled immediately. This means any regular payments you have set up will need to be updated. It’s easy; just call up your gym, power company, telco or whoever you have a direct debit with and advise them of your new card number and expiry date. Make sure you consider monthly, quarterly and annual direct debits.

If you’re not sure who you have direct debits with, simply check your old credit card statements. Direct debits are a personal agreement between you and your service provider so unfortunately we can’t assist you with this. However we do have a handy letter template that you can use to make this easier.

Things you should know:

*The earning and redemption of Commonwealth (CommBank) Awards points are subject to the Terms and Conditions of the CommBank Awards Program available at Points are earned on eligible transactions (excludes for example, BPAY transactions, cash advances, payments to the Australian Taxation Office unless made using a Business Awards card, or balance transfers) and are subject to points capping - see for more information. If you are currently opted-in to Qantas Frequent Flyer Direct, your CommBank Awards points will continue to convert to Qantas points at a ratio of 2.5:1 or to opt-in to Qantas Frequent Flyer Direct, call 13 1661. There is a $30 annual fee charged for opting in. Customers must be opted in to Qantas Frequent Flyer Direct to earn Qantas Points. Once a customer has opted in to Qantas Frequent Flyer Direct, all CommBank Awards points earned after opting in will be automatically redeemed for Qantas Points and transferred monthly to their Qantas Frequent Flyer account at the applicable conversion rate. It is important to note that any CommBank Awards points earned prior to the date of your opt-in cannot be transferred to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account. You must be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program to earn and redeem Qantas Points. A joining fee may apply. Membership and the earning and redemption of points are subject to the Qantas Frequent Flyer program terms and conditions.
